ADA, Okla. — After falling behind 1-0 at halftime, Southern Nazarene scored three goals in the second half to come from behind and defeat East Central 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The three scores in the final period are a season-high for the Crimson Storm (3-13, 2-8 GAC) as they snapped a three-game losing streak. The Tigers (3-11, 1-7 GAC) out-shot SNU 27-16 and landed 11 of those on goal while the Storm placed six on frame in the match.

In a very chippy match from start to finish with five yellow cards and one red card on ECU as senior
Kelsi Bussert scored her seventh goal of the season and finished with four shot attempts in the match as well as an assist.
Alejandra Andrade and
Rebecca Moore each recorded their first goals on the year as well. Junior
Kylee Payne finished with one assist and one shot on goal, while
Natalie James also tallied one assist and one shot on goal.

Goalkeepers
Ashlynn Pritchett and
Micaela Owen were excellent in the match for SNU as the pair each played 45 minutes. Pritchett drew the start and tallied six saves, while Owen recorded four in relief.

East Central came out firing on their home field in the opening period, as the Tigers launched 19 shots in the half. They took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute courtesy of Stephanie Wainscott and carried that advantage into the break.

The Crimson Storm turned up the defense in the second half, as they held ECU to eight shots in the period, while firing seven themselves. All three goals came inside a 13-minute window as Andrade tied the match with her score in the 64
th minute on a beautiful pass from Bussert.

Payne connected with Moore in the 74
th minute to give the Storm their first lead of the match, while Bussert added the icing on the cake with her score in the 77
th minute on a pass from James. SNU cruised in the final 10 minutes to take their second GAC win of the season.

Southern Nazarene is back at home next Thursday night as they take on Northwestern Oklahoma State at Wes Harmon Field. The Storm defeated the Rangers 3-2 in double-overtime earlier in the season in Alva, as the match in Bethany is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
