BETHANY – Southern Nazarene hosted the number one team in the Great American Conference on Tuesday night in its rival Oklahoma Baptist and fell 4-0 at Wes Harmon Field.
The Bison (11-4, 9-0 GAC) entered the match with a perfect record in conference play and already having clinched a spot in the GAC Championships. That record stayed perfect in Bethany as they tallied 31 shots in the match. They landed 17 of those on goal while the Crimson Storm (2-13, 1-8 GAC) took a season-low three shots and managed one of those on target.
Alejandra Andrade was the only SNU player to get a shot on goal, while goalkeeper
Ashlynn Pritchett recorded a season-high 13 saves in the match. She played all 90 minutes for the Storm.
Oklahoma Baptist's Hannah White scored the first goal of the match for the Bison in the 19
th minute as they took a 1-0 lead, and later carried that into halftime. Tori Kitchel netted a goal two minutes out of the break to give OBU the 2-0 lead, before Ruth King extended their lead to 3-0 in the 80
th minute with her score.
The Bison scored one more goal in the closing five minutes of the match to put the game out of reach for the Crimson Storm, as they cruised to their ninth conference win of the season.
Southern Nazarene hits the road on Thursday afternoon for Ada as they take on East Central at 4 p.m. in a GAC contest.
