RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Southern Nazarene volleyball team struggled on the road on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns in straight sets at Tucker Coliseum.
SNU hit a conference-low .100 in the match, only going for 27 kills to 16 errors on 110 total attacks. On the other end, Arkansas Tech hit well all match, going for 46 kills to 13 errors on 109 total attacks for a .303 hitting percentage.
A six point rally gave the Golden Suns an early 9-4 lead and they maintained a four point advantage through much of the first set. ATU would close the set by scoring eight of the final 11 points to take the first set 25-15.
The Crimson Storm raced out to a 6-2 lead in set two, but Arkansas Tech inched back into the match and tied it at 11. With SNU leading 12-11, ATU went on a four point rally to flip the set in their favor at 15-12. The Golden Suns took control from there and was able to hold off SNU for a 25-19 win and a 2-0 set lead.
In the third set, ATU used another run to open up an 11-6 lead. SNU battled back to make it 12-11 and eventually tied the set at 14 a piece as they were looking to extend the match. However, on this day, the Golden Suns were too much as they scored 11 of the final 13 points to close the match with a 25-16 win.

SNU moves to 13-14 on the year and 5-6 in GAC play. They will look to bounce back on Thursday afternoon as they return to the Sawyer Center for a 7 PM match-up against Northwestern OSU.
