BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene couldn't make it a 5-0 start inside the Sawyer Center, as it fell 85-83 to Arkansas Tech to lose for the first time on their home floor this season.
Â
The Crimson Storm (5-6, 3-4 GAC) battled the entire game, and made things interesting for the number two team in the Great American Conference in the Golden Suns (9-1, 5-1 GAC). Both teams shot 43 percent from the field, but the difference came from behind the arc. ATU shot 50 percent, while SNU shot just 28 percent.
Â
After scoring a career-high 34 points on Thursday night,
Adrienne Berry led the Storm with 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
Alexus Jones stuffed the stat sheet once again, as the freshman recorded her first double-double of her career with 13 points and 12 assists. She also added seven rebounds and three steals. It was another great game for
Abby Niehues, as she posted her first double-double by pulling down a career-high 13 rebounds after swatting a career-high six shots on Thursday night. She also added 10 points.
Â
Julia Schwake scored a career-high 12 points off the Storm bench, as
Kandyce Freeman and

Just like Thursday night, the Storm got off to a very fast start. They jumped out on an early 15-2 run, courtesy of Berry going 3-3 from downtown. The Golden Suns responded on a 15-6 run of their own to make it a 21-17 SNU lead at the end of the first.
Â
After scoring nine in the first, Berry came back in the second with eight more to give SNU a 47-41 lead at half. Niehues had a career-high 12 rebounds in the half, while Jones dished out seven assists. The Storm shot 50 percent from the field in the first half.
Â
The Golden Suns jumped off to a 15-2 run to start the third quarter, as they led 56-49. ATU pushed their lead to double-digits with 3:05 left in the period, as they went on to score 31 in the period. The Suns took a 72-63 lead into the fourth.
Â
The fourth quarter was a defensive battle for both sides. Berry's layup with 4:57 cut the Storm deficit to 76-73. The Storm had a chance to tie the game with 10 seconds left, but Gillette's three-point attempt came up just short.
