Halted by Harding

SNU fell 6-2 and 17-5 in a GAC doubleheader

BETHANY, Okla. — Harding completed the four game sweep, beating Southern Nazarene 6-2 and 17-5 in the final two games of the Great American Conference series Saturday afternoon.
 
After a scoreless first, both teams scored in the second. Harding scored on a solo home run to center then in the bottom of the second Katelyn Brown answered with her first home run of the season to put the score at 1-1. The Storm took the lead in the fourth after Hannah LeBeau hit her fourth home run of the season. Southern Nazarene led 4-1 through four complete innings.
 
Harding retook the lead in the fifth after they scored four runs. The Bisons added one more run in the seventh to make it a 6-2 game. Te Crimson Storm loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but they weren't able to score as HU came away with a 6-2 victory.
 
Brown (6-10) took the loss after giving up six runs, on nine hits, in seven innings of work. Brown also struck out six batters, while walking two. Brown also went 1-for-2 with a home run. LeBeau went 3-for-3 with a home run.
 
In the nightcap, Harding jumped out to a 13-0 lead. The Bisons scored three in the first, six in the second, and four more in the third. Southern Nazarene rallied for five runs in the third, three of those coming from an Amy Reynolds three-run home run. The home run was Reynolds' first home run of the season and her first home run while playing at Southern Nazarene. The Bisons scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to put the game out of reach as Harding notched a 17-5 win.
 
Tate (0-7) took the loss after giving up seven runs, on five hits in one inning of work. Reynolds went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs.
