ADA, Okla. — Southern Nazarene snapped a six-game losing streak to East Central and won for the first time in Ada, since the 2013 season with a 68-49 victory Saturday afternoon.
It is the third straight win for the Crimson Storm (15-10, 12-7 GAC) and the fifth in six games. It was also the third straight road win for SNU who was 2-7 away from Bethany previously before the streak started.
Deshon Portley was just one point shy of a season-high as the senior scored 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. He was also 3-for-8 from 3-point range and 4-for-5 from the line.
Jhonathan Dunn added 17 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
The Crimson Storm held the Tigers to just 4-of-26 shooting in the first half and 0-of-9 from 3-point range. SNU also forced 11 first half turnovers. Southern Nazarene started the game on a 21-7 run and pushed it ot 32-14 before taking a 32-16 lead at the half.
SNU held tight in the second half shooting 44.4 percent in the second half and went 10-for-15 from the line. After shooting just 15.4 percent in the first half, the Tigers fired 51.9 percent from the field in the second half.
The Storm shot 36.5 percent from the field and were 5-for-15 rom 3-point range. ECU finished at 34.0 percent from the field and SNU did not give up a 3-pointer the entire day as the Tigers went 0-for-16. SNU also forced 19 turnovers with 17 points coming off those miscues. In turn, SNU gave up just seven points off of 10 turnovers.
