Storm win second straight inside Sawyer

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene kept the second half winning streak rolling as it won its second straight game in an 81-57 victory over Henderson State Saturday afternoon.
 
The win pushes the Crimson Storm (10-8, 7-5 GAC) past the Reddies (12-7, 7-6 GAC) for fifth and moves the record inside the Sawyer Center to 8-2 on the year.
 
Jhonathan Dunn led the way for SNU with 19 points as he was 9-for-14 from the field. Micah Speight had 12 points as he was 4-for-6 from the field and 2-for-2 from 3-point range. Speight also had five assist and three rebounds. Deshon Portley and LB Willis each added 10 points. Willis added four assists and three rebounds as well
 
SNU shot 55.2 percent from the field and went 6-for-13 from beyond arc and held Henderson State to just 36.8 percent from the field. The Storm dominated the paint, outscoring HSU 42-16 and gave up just two points in transition the entire night. SNU's bench also outscored the Reddies' 32-26. The Storm also scored 23 points off of 16 Henderson turnovers and turned the ball over 14 times.  
 
The Storm came out of the gate fast and didn't take the foot off the gas then entire first half. SNU went 19-for-34 in the first half and shut down Henderson State on the other end. The Reddies were held to just 26.9 percent from the field in the first half and 1-for-4 from 3-point range.
 
All eight players that played in the first half scored and the scoring was spread out as Dunn led the way with eight.
 
SNU opened with a 27-5 run and pushed it to 25 on a number of occasions and that included a 41-16 lead at the half. It was much of the same in the second half. The Storm led by as much as 31 in the second half and held off any Henderson State run from there.
