BETHANY, Okla. —Â
Alan Armstrong scored twice to lead Southern Nazarene to its first win of the season in 3-1 win over Ouachita in the Great American Conference opener Thursday.
The Crimson Storm (1-6-0) got on the board first, getting out to an early 1-0 lead off a goal by Armstrong. The goal came off of a
Cutter Smith shot that bounced off the post and found Armstrong's foot that sent the ball to the back of the net. It was Armstrong's first goal of the season and gave the Storm an early 1-0 lead.

The rest of the first half was heated as six yellow cards were issued to the two teams. Ouachita (4-3-0) received four yellow cards in the first half and seven on the night and Southern Nazarene was issued two yellow cards in the first half and four on the night. Ouachita also received a red card, given to Gideon Onguti.

SNU posted nine shots in the first half, two on goal, and Ouachita attempted ten shots with three on goal.

The Storm held a 1-0 lead in the 45
th minute when they were called for a foul in the box, giving the Tigers a penalty kick and a chance to tie the game before the first half ended, however
Colton Hadlock denied the Tigers that opportunity by making a clutch save as he dove to the left and deflected the ball away from the goal. SNU took a 1-0 lead into the half, the first time the Storm had a lead going into the half this season.

The Storm scored a second goal in the 57
th minute on a Mitchel Johnson penalty kick, his first goal of the season to give SNU a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Tigers wasted no time getting back into the game as they scored a goal of their own in the 58
th minute. Brian Wilson scored from 15-yards out off of an assist from Logan Hampton to put the score at 2-1.

SNU answered 12 minutes later in the 70
th minute when Johnson crossed the ball over to Armstrong who fired a rocket into the net, his second goal of the night and the season.

The Storm attempted eleven shots in the second half, three on goal and the Tigers took seven shots with four on goal.

Southen Nazarene's defense played a key role in the Storm's first win of the season as they blocked five shots to go alongside Hadlock's (1-6-0) six saves. Â
