Tigers Finish Sweep Of Storm

SNU lost its sixth straight game in GAC play in a 9-4 loss to ECU

ADA, Okla. — As has been the case for the previous two weeks, Southern Nazarene found itself in a familiar situation. The Storm jumped out to a lead in the first inning, only to watch the lead slip away. Today, SNU scored two runs in the top of the first and had a lead of 4-1 after two innings. However, East Central scored the next eight runs of the game en route to a 9-4 victory over SNU.

Southern Nazarene (7-30, 5-19 GAC) scored two runs in the first inning, with both runs being unearned. Josh Matelsky reached on an error by the second baseman to score Anthony Wiggins, then was followed by Mike Descisciolo reaching on a fielder's choice and Tyler Stevens scoring on an error by the catcher.

East Central tacked on a run in the bottom of the first, but SNU bounced back quickly with two in the second as well. Matelsky delivered the runs once again, driving in two with a single up the middle to score Wiggins and Shelby Reese.

The Tigers took over from there, scoring four runs in the third before scoring two in the sixth and two in the eighth to put the game away.

Descisciolo (1-4) got the start on the mound for SNU and surrendered seven runs on ten hits over six innings while striking out five batters. Wiggins pitched two innings of relief and gave up two runs, one earned, on one hit while striking out two. Matelsky and Reese led the Storm with two hits apiece, while Wiggins, Colton Hamel, and Ryan Tucker added a hit each.
