Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Every win brings Southern Nazarene that much closer to securing a trip to Bentonville and after a 3-0 shutout of Henderson State Friday picture is getting more clear.
Â
The night didn't start so clear as the Reddies (27-23, 18-19 GAC) got a two-hitter out of Michelle Sorensen who also struck out nine. The Crimson Storm (25-25, 15-22 GAC) had this from
Sam Smith and
Jessica Thompson, but that was it.
Â
SNU had a tough performance out of
Kayla Wyatt who gave up just two runs on five hits and struck out five in five innings of work.
Ashley Potter struck out one as she retired the side in the sixth in one inning of relief. Wyatt fell to 16-11 on the year.
Â
The Storm though turned the tables in the nightcap as
Katelyn Brown (8-12) gave up just three hits and struck out six in a complete-game performance. HSU left eight stranded in the game as it had at least one run in scoring position in each of the first three innings, but Brown worked out of it each time.
Â
SNU broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third on a single to center by
Kyndall Freer-Christopher that scored
Hope Martin. The Storm tacked on two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh with one coming on a
Hannah LeBeau sacrifice fly before Martin scored on a passed ball. Martin went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
