WICHITA, Kan. — Deshon Portley scored a game-high 16 points for Southern Nazarene in an 87-57 loss at Wichita State in an exhibition contest.

Portley went 6-for-14 from the field, 4-for-9 in the first half, and added a pair of 3-pointers as well.
Jhonathan Dunn scored 11 points to go with four rebounds and two steals.
C.J. White had eight points and three rebounds while
Micah Speight had four assists and six points.

The Crimson Storm were held to 32.7 percent shooting from the field while the Shockers (6-2) had five players in double figures in a 52.5 percent performance from the field. Wichita State hit eight treys on the night and went 15-for-20 at the line. Over half of WSU's points were scored in the paint with 46 coming in the line. Wichita State's bench also accounted for 61 points. SNU scored 11 points off of 12 Shocker turnovers and had 15 second chance points off 10 offensive rebounds.

Wichita State got off to a quick start with a 17-3 lead before it went up 24-6. The Shockers pushed it to 34-11 before an
LB Willis jumper pulled SNU to a 39-21 deficit with 2:36 left in the first. Wichita State though closed the half with an 11-3 run to take a 50-24 lead at the half.

The Shockers just barely outscored SNU in the second half as Wichita State went 12-for-26 from the field with 37 points while SNU went 8-for-22 for 33 points. WSU took its largest lead of the game at the 3:29 mark in the second half at 83-49, but SNU closed the game on an 8-3 run.

It was SNU's final exhibition of the year as the Storm get geared up to step back into Great American Conference play Thursday.
