Tigers Caught in the Storm

Offensive surge helps Storm pick up fourth conference win of the season

ADA, Okla. — Southern Nazarene got its best offensive performance of the season as it cruised to a 4-1 victory at East Central Thursday afternoon.

The Storm got off to a great start offensively as they were able to find the back of the net in 16th minute. Alyssa Glitzke passed the ball to Hannah Robinson, who took a shot from the right corner of the box. The ball sailed over the goalie's head and in for Robinson's fifth goal of the season.

SNU added another goal in 29th minute to make it a 2-0 game, as Shanae Vasquez recorded her first goal of the season when she took a pass from Kelsi Bussert and sent it to the back of the net.

Southern Nazarene attempted 14 shots in the first half with seven on goal. The Tigers took eight shots with one on goal.

The Storm continued to apply the pressure in the second half as they added two more goals to make it a 4-0 game. Bussert tallied her fourth goal of the season from a shot that was taken from 30 yards out off of a Robinson assist in the 72nd minute. Brianna Evans notched her first goal of the season off of a Robinson assist in the 80th minute.

The Tigers got on the board in the 87th minute as Summer Whalen recorded her second goal of the season off of a Kendall Smith assist. However, it proved to be too little, too late as the Storm got their fourth win in conference play with a 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Southern Nazarene ended the day with 27 shots with 14 on goal while the Tigers took 23 shots with just six of goal.

Natasha Fuentes recorded five saves for the Southern Nazarene and East Central's Lexi Hurley tallied ten saves.
