SHAWNEE, Okla. — Adrienne Berry scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the fourth quarter en route to a career-high 24 points as Southern Nazarene picked up its first road win in Great American Conference play in an 81-73 victory over Oklahoma Baptist.

The Crimson Storm (4-8, 3-6 GAC) raced out to a 24-16 lead after the first quarter. The Storm shot 46.7 percent from the field during the period, while hitting 3-of-7 shots from 3-point range. SNU was particularly stingy on the defensive end, as it held OBU to 38.9 percent shooting on the quarter. Southern Nazarene even held McKenzie Cooper, who ranks eighth in the Great American Conference in scoring, to two points on 1-of-3 shooting during the frame. SNU went perfect from the free throw line during the first, shooting 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.

The Storm kept the hot shooting going into the second quarter and all the way into halftime. Southern Nazarene hit 8-of-11 shots during the second quarter with
Danielle Gaddis and
Abby Boyd combining to go 6-of-7 from the field during the frame. The Bison managed to fight back during the period, and by halftime the Crimson Storm lead was trimmed to 42-38. Boyd led SNU with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting while going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Gaddis entered the half with 10 points, while
Kandyce Freeman and
Rachel Doerneman added six points each with both going 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the first half.

After Oklahoma Baptist pulled within three going into the final frame, Berry took over. The freshman from Oklahoma City scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter for SNU on four consecutive shots, boosting the Crimson Storm lead to eight. After the Bison pulled within four, Berry followed an
Ashley Almond free throw with another hot streak. Berry scored the next eight points for the Southern Nazarene, which combined with free throws from Almond and Boyd to ice the game for the Crimson Storm.

Berry finished as the high scorer for the game as she finished with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Boyd recorded her best field goal percentage for a single game this season as she shot 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 22 points. Gaddis finished with 16 points and six rebounds, while Almond chipped in four points and a career-high six assists.

Southern Nazarene put up season-highs in points scored and field goal percentage as it finished shooting 53.7 percent from the field. SNU controlled the offensive glass as well as it hauled in nine offensive rebounds and outscored OBU 14-5 in second chance points. Southern Nazarene dominated bench scoring, with the SNU bench earning a 34-16 advantage over OBU reserves. The defense stepped up huge for the Crimson Storm as well, as they held the Bison to 39.7 percent shooting and 30.8 percent from 3-point range.Â
