BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Southern Nazarene University will live again to play at least one more day at the Great American Conference Championships with a 6-4 win over Arkansas-Monticello in the loser's bracket. The Crimson Storm dropped to the loser's bracket after falling 8-0 to Southeastern Oklahoma State in the first round.

In the opener, Southeastern Oklahoma State scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to force a run-rule in five innings in the first game for the Crimson Storm. SNU had out hit the Savage Storm through the first four innings, but Southern Nazarene had two errors and walked four on the day.

Kayla Wyatt (10-15) took the loss as she gave up eight runs, seven earned, on six hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Jill Clemence had two of SNU's five hits as she went 2-for-2.

Wyatt though bounced back in the nightcap, as she gave up four runs while scattering 14 hits in 6.2 innings of work. She also struck out eight and walked just one. She had thrown five scoreless innings before Arkansas-Monticello broke through in the fifth.
Katelyn Brown came on in relief with two outs in the top of the seventh and retired the only batter she faced. Brown also picked up her first career save. Â

Jessica Thompson led the way for SNU as she went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, a run scored and a home run. Clemence and Padilla each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Clemence also scored a run while Padilla scored two.

Thompson put the Storm on the board in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run to center field for her second home run of the year. Clemence pushed it to 3-0 in the bottom of the third with a singled to center to score
Kylie Lang. Thompson made it 4-0 when she singled through the left side to score
Sam Smith.

Melissa Padilla pushed another run across in the fifth when she singled through the left side and Clemence raced around from second. Padilla then scored to make it 6-0 in a single to center by Thompson.

The Cotton Blossoms got on the board in the top of the sixth with two runs and added two more in the top of the seventh to cut it to 6-4.

That was it though as Brown shut the door.
