BETHANY, Okla. — In its first year of Great American Conference postseason eligibility, Southern Nazarene University begins its hunt Thursday for its first GAC Championship as the sixth seed.
Â
The Crimson Storm will play Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Tiger Athletic Complex on the campus of Bentonville (Ark.) High School. SNU plays the opening game and is on the same side of the bracket at second-seeded East Central and seventh-seeded Arkansas-Monticello.
Â
The Savage Storm took two of the three games played in the season series this year, and two of the three games were one-run games. SNU split the season series with Arkansas-Monticello and ECU took three of the four games from the Crimson Storm. All three of those series were played at SNU. ECU and UAM play the second game of the day at 12 p.m.
Â
Henderson State took the GAC regular season title and will be the top seed. The Reddies will take on eighth-seeded Southern Arkansas at 2 p.m. SAU slid to the eighth seed after being assessed a nullification penalty of 0.138 in their winning percentage due to playing an ineligible student-athlete. Henderson State and Southern Arkansas both took three of four from SNU in their season series. The final game of the first round puts fourth-seeded Arkansas Tech against fifth-seeded Harding at 4 p.m. SNU split with Tech and took three of four from Harding in the season series.
Â
The two loser's bracket games will be played at Memorial Park at 6 and 8 p.m. while the two winner's bracket games will be played at 6 and 8 p.m. at the Tiger Athletic Complex. The remaining games will all be played at the Tiger Athletic Complex.
Â
All games played at the Tiger Athletic Complex will be broadcast live on the GAC Sports Network. The only two games that will not be broadcast live will be the two loser's bracket games Thursday.
