BETHANY, Okla. — It was an unlikely team to snap a four-game losing streak on, but Southern Nazarene upended No. 1 (NAIA) Oklahoma Baptist 4-3 Monday in a non-conference game.
Â
The Crimson Storm (6-19) gave the Bison (30-3) just their third loss of the year and gave up all three runs in one inning.
Â
Michael Descisciolo (1-1) picked up the win after he gave up just three runs, two earned, and scattered 11 hits. He also struck out a career-high seven batters.
Zach Friesen recorded his first career save as he gave up just one hit in the final two innings of work.
Â
The Crimson Storm scored all four of their runs in the first two innings and had two of their four hits in the first inning.
Kyle Fultz and
Caleb Teel got the Crimson Storm going in the bottom of the first with back-to-back singles to put SNU on top 2-0. Southern Nazarene added two more in the bottom of the second to lead 4-0. The first run came on an OBU error before
Dalen Edgar hit a sacrifice fly to right to score
Riley Morrow from third.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist got on the board in the top of the fifth with three runs to cut it to 4-3, but the Storm staff closed the door from there.
