Rangers Rope Storm

SNU falls at home to Northwestern Oklahoma State

BETHANY, Okla. — Carlos Anguiano hit two 40-plus-yard field goals and Daniel Ramos III scored his longest touchdown of the year for Southern Nazarene in a 49-20 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State.
 
Ramos got things going for the Storm (0-8, 0-8 GAC) when he took the first play for SNU 57 yards to the house to tie it at 7-7 early in the first. The Rangers (3-5, 3-5 GAC) pushed it to 14-7 before Anguiano drilled a 40-yard field goal to make it 14-10 with 6:01 left in the half.
 
Northwestern pushed it to 28-10 at the half and 49-10 into the fourth quarter before Anguiano recorded a career-long 48-yard field goal to make it 49-13. The Storm tacked on another touchdown late when Jacob Spady completed a 4-play, 44-yard drive to make it 49-20.
 
Spady, who got his first start of the year, threw for 111 yards and completed 18 of his 31 pass attempts. Johnathan Martin and Ian Jones were the leading receivers for the Storm as Martin had 39 yards on four catches and 36 yards on six catches. The Storm had 191 yards rushing as Ramos led the way with 89 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Quincey Whitfield had 65 yards on five carries.
 
Southern Nazarene had 302 total yards on the day as it was the second most total yards for the Storm this season. SNU gave up 525 yards by the Rangers as Northwestern had 199 yards rushing and 326 passing. Blake Giles led the way for the Storm on the defensive side with 11 tackles. Isaiah Young had 10 tackles as well. Konner Bent had seven tackles and a sack while Preston Odette had two sacks.
