SNU Splits with No. 22 UCO

Southern Nazarene knocks off first ranked team of the season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Kayla Wyatt may have only got four hits in support, but it was enough for the sophomore as she picked up her sixth straight win in a 2-1 victory over No. 22 Central Oklahoma in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Crimson Storm (18-27) dropped the opening game 12-0, but answered back with another complete-game performance by Wyatt. She gave up just one run on six hits and struck out eight in seven innings of work in moving to 12-9 on the year.

While Wyatt was the hero in the circle, it was Whitney Linder who played the hero at the plate. UCO took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first at 1-0, but SNU took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth when Linder belted her fifth home run of the year, a two-run shot to left center, to put the Storm up 2-1.

In the first game, Central Oklahoma's Kalynn Schrock gave up just two hits, one to Allie Baird and one to Lindy Fluman as she picked up the win in the opener to move to 21-6. The Bronchos had 11 hits as Andee Frazier (5-12) took the loss for the Storm. She gave up eight runs, six earned, on seven hits in four innings of work. Ashley Potter gave up four runs on four hits in an inning of relief.

UCO scored one in the second and two in the third to lead 3-0, but erupted for five in the fourth and four in the fifth to put the game away.

The Crimson Storm now close out the season with a Great American Conference series. The first one up begins Friday as SNU hosts Southern Arkansas for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
