Box Score 2 MONTICELLO, Ark. — Kayla Wyatt won her fifth straight game and tossed her 16
th complete game of the year for Southern Nazarene in a 6-2 win over Arkansas-Monticello, before SNU fell 4-0 in the second game of a doubleheader.
Wyatt (11-9) gave up just two runs, on earned, on six hits and struck out nine as the Crimson Storm moved to 17-26 overall and 11-19 in the Great American Conference.
The Cotton Blossoms jumped out on SNU 2-0 in the bottom of the second, but the Storm tied the game in the top of the fourth on back-to-back singles from Krystal Freer-Christopher and
Kylee Webb.
Lindy Fluman gave the Storm a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run single down the left field line.
Andee Frazier put the Storm up 5-2 with a sacrifice squeeze before Freer-Christopher singled to right to put SNU up 6-2.
The top four hitters for SNU had six of the Storm's 11 hits and the top six in the lineup had eight of the 11. Fluman and
Whitney Linder led the way for Southern Nazarene as each went 2-for-4. Fluman had two RBIs and a run scored while Linder scored two runs. Freer-Christopher also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
For the second straight day, SNU got shutout in the nightcap. The Cotton Blossoms scored one in the first and two in the second before wrapping it up with one in the fourth. Freer-Christopher went 2-for-2 with a double.
Southern Nazarene now gets set to host defending national champion Central Oklahoma, Tuesday, for a 2 p.m. non-conference contest.
