SNU Drops Doubleheader at Southeastern

Southeastern completes sweep of Crimson Storm

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene finished the weekend series with Southeastern Oklahoma State, falling 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader before losing 4-2 in the second.
 
Southeastern Oklahoma State's Jessica Simmons hit a two-run, walk-off home run to push the only runs across the plate for the Savage Storm to pick up the win in the opener. Kayla Wyatt (5-5) had given up just three hits and no runs heading into the seventh, but gave up her sixth walk and then the two-run game-winner. The sophomore struck out eight in the loss.
 
Southern Nazarene scored its only run in the top of the fifth when Allie Baird singled through the right side to score Sam Smith.
 
In the nightcap, SNU struck first again with two solo home runs in the top of the third from Whitney Linder and Lindy Fluman as the Storm took a 2-0 lead. Southeastern answered with two in the bottom half of the inning to tie it at 2-2, before taking the lead in the fifth at 3-2. The Savage Storm added another in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead and held SNU off from there.
 
Fluman went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, an RBI and a run scored. Andee Frazier (0-0) took the loss after giving up two runs on six hits in the final three innings of work. Ashley Potter got the start, throwing the first three innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
 
SNU moves to 9-14 overall and 4-10 in the Great American Conference.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to host MidAmerica Nazarene, Monday, for a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
