Shutting Out the Dawgs

SNU shutout SWOSU in both games of a twin bill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Southern Nazarene picked up its first doubleheader shutout of the year as SNU drilled Southwestern Oklahoma State 6-0 and 11-0 in a two-game set to close out the four-game series.
 
Kayla Wyatt tossed her first shutout of the year as the sophomore threw a one-hitter, struck out five and walked just two batters to move to 5-3 on the year. Megan Blevens and Courtney Wiley both went 2-for-3 on the day as both scored a run. Blevens drove in three on the day.
 
SNU scored four runs in the top of the second in back-to-back at bats as Kylie Lang drew a bases loaded walk to make it 1-0 before Blevens laced a double to right center to push in three more to put the Storm on top 4-0. The Storm added another two insurance runs in the top of the seventh when Whitney Linder singled up the middle to give SNU a 6-0 lead.
 
Andee Frazier gave up just five hits and struck out five while walking only one in her second shutout of the year. Sam Smith was a perfect on the day, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Lang went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored. LeBeau also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
 
SNU took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Kacey Acker singled through the right side to score Lang. Southern Nazarene then added three in the top of the second to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the second. SNU added another in the fifth when Smith ripped a triple to right center to score Frazier. The Storm pushed it to 6-0 in the fourth with a Hannah LeBeausingle to left that scored Lindy Fluman.
 
The Crimson Storm erupted in the top of the seventh with four runs to lead 11-0. Kyndall Freer-Christopher drove in the first run of the inning with a single through the right side before Fluman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Lang then cleared the bases with a three-run triple to seal it.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set for their home opener as they host Northwestern Oklahoma State for a four-game series, Friday and Saturday.
