Southern Nazarene 2-2 in UAM 8-State Classic

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The second day of the UAM 8-State Classic looked familiar to the first as Southern Nazarene picked up another split, falling 9-4 to Fort Hays State before holding on to knock off Missouri Southern State 9-8.
In the opener, the Tigers took the first lead of the game with two in the top of the first, but SNU got one back in the bottom half when Lindy Fluman hit a solo shot to right center to make it 2-1. Fort Hays stretched the lead to 4-1, but the Storm scored three in the bottom half to tie it at 4-4. The first run came on an Andee Frazier single to left to score Kylie Lang before Megan Blevens hit a two-run double to left center to tie the game. 
The Tigers though scored four more in the fourth and one in the fifth to put it away. 
Fluman led the way for the Storm, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kayla Wyatt (2-2) gave up seven runs, five earned, on six hits in five innings of work. She also struck out three in the loss.
In the nightcap, Andee Frazier (1-2) picked up her first win of the year after the freshman pitched 6.2 innings of relief. She gave up just three runs on six hits and struck out four.
Fluman had the hot bat again as she went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Courtney Wiley also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Lang scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
SNU struck first in the top of the first when Frazier drew a bases loaded walk and then Sam Smith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Storm a 2-0 lead. The Lions though scored five runs in the bottom of the first to lead 5-2. The Storm cut it to 5-3 on a sacrifice fly to score Fluman. MSSU answered with another in the bottom half of the inning to lead 6-3. 
The Storm cut it to 6-4 in the top of the third when Wiley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Storm broke the game open in the fourth with four runs to lead 9-6. The Lions tried to rally in the seventh and scored two runs, but SNU held on late for the win.
The Storm play Nebraska-Kearney and Upper Iowa, tomorrow, at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
