Senior Score-fest

Rodgers and Pineda each scored two goals in SNU's 4-3 victory

BOLIVAR, Mo.— Edgar Pineda and Blake Rodgers both scored two goals as Southern Nazarene knocked off Southwest Baptist 4-3.
 
Pineda gave the Crimson Storm (3-8, 2-4 MIAA) the lead in the 12th minute when he scored off a pass from Javier Caballeros. Rodgers extended the lead for SNU in the 40th minute when he scored his first goal of the game. Rodgers added onto the lead in the 40th minute when he headed Mitchell Johnson's pass into the net to give SNU commanding 3-0 lead. The Bearcats (0-11, 0-5 MIAA) got on the board at the end of the half as Kyler Moore scored with one second remaining on the clock off a pass from Tyler Hedrick to cut the lead to 3-1.
 
Southwest Baptist continued to cut into the lead as Justin Schaeffer scored in the 48th minute to bring the score to 3-2. Pineda scored his second goal of the game in the 65th minute off a pass from Alan Armstrong to give SNU a 4-2 lead. The Bearcats responded quickly in the 70th minute when Gaspar Mata scored off a pass from Cody Martin to bring the game to 4-3. Southern Nazarene kept Southwest Baptist out of the net for the remainder of the game as Jeff Ray recorded two saves and SNU blocked one shot in the last 20 minutes.
 
The Crimson Storm attempted 30 shots with ten being on goal. The Bearcats attempted 15 shots with eight being on goal.
 
SBU's Lajos Zadravecz had six saves and SNU's Ray recorded five saves.
 
Pineda and Rodgers are now both in the top ten for career goals in SNU history. Rodgers is tied for eighth in goals with 26 and Pineda is tied for tenth in goals with 25.
