Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — It was a nice day for a walk and that's what Southern Nazarene did in the second game of a doubleheader as Megan Blevins launched a three-run walk off home in the bottom of the seventh to lift SNU to a 5-3 win over Henderson State.
The Crimson Storm (20-33, 12-23 GAC) completed their first doubleheader sweep in the Great American Conference season and captured its first GAC series with the game-winning shot after SNU won 5-2 in the opener.
Southern Nazarene trailed 2-0 in the nightcap before the bats came to life when
Kacey Acker hit her seventh home run of the season, a two run shot to straight away center to tie it in the bottom of the sixth. It was Acker's first home run since March 6. The Lady Reddies (19-29, 13-17 GAC) retook the lead in the top of the seventh with a run to go up 3-2.
Henderson struck the first batter out in the bottom of the seventh, but
Kaylee Allen roped a single to center and then the Storm took advantage of an error to put runners at first and second. The error didn't matter though as Blevins blasted her eighth home run of the year to give the Storm the win.
Becca Webb moved to 2-7 on the year as the freshman gave up just one run on three hits in three innings of work. Blevens went 2-for-3 on the day with three RBIs and one run scored.
In the opener, SNU led from the first inning on. Henderson State scored the first run, but the Storm answered with two in a
Kaytie Spencer sacrifice squeeze and an HSU error.
Kylie Lang put the Storm up 3-1 with a single to left center before the Lady Reddies cut it to 3-2 in the top of the fifth. The Storm put it away in the sixth with two when Spencer laced a two-run single up the middle.
Spencer finished the first game 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Maci-Brooke Lambert (12-15) recorded the win as she went the distance allowing just two runs on seven hits.
The Crimson Storm now get set for the final doubleheader of the season at they host No. 7 Central Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
