Can't Stop the Rain

Southern Nazarene picked up a split Saturday with Northwestern OSU

Madden is one home run away from tying the school's all-time record.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Amy Madden moved one home run closer to the school's all-time record as the senior hit her 44th career home run in a doubleheader split with Northwestern Oklahoma State.
 
The Crimson Storm (9-15, 3-9 GAC) dropped the first game of the doubleheader, 8-0, before taking the second one 5-3 in a game shortened by rain.
 
In the opener, Northwestern Oklahoma State scored two in bottom of the first and added another in the bottom of the second to take an early 3-0. The Rangers added another in the third with a solo shot to left to lead 4-0. The Rangers added four in the bottom of the fifth to score the run rule.
 
NWOSU's gave up just two hits as she moved to 3-1 on the year while Maci-Brooke Lambert took the loss to move to 4-9 on the year. Lambert gave up six runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings of work.
 
The Crimson Storm jumped out quickly with three runs in the first with the first two coming in on an Amy Madden double up the middle. Madden then came around to scored on a Northwestern error. The Rangers cut it to 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning. SNU opened the third inning with back-to-back home runs as Madden and Kaytie Spencer both ripped a shot to left center to put SNU on top 5-1. The Rangers scored two in the bottom of the fourth and neither team scored in the fifth before rains washed out play for the day.
 
Madden went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Megan Blevens went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Jeneva Nelson (4-4) picked up the win after giving up just three runs on five hits in five innings of work.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to host Southwestern Oklahoma State, Friday and Saturday, for a 4-game GAC set.
