UCO Sweeps Storm

No. 9 Central Oklahoma makes quick work of SNU

EDMOND, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped both games of a doubleheader at No. 9 Central Oklahoma as UCO won the opener 12-3 in five innings and won the second 8-3.
 
The Crimson Storm (8-12) had just four hits in the opener as the Bronchos (14-4) ripped 15. UCO had 10 runs through the first three innings as it scored two in the first, five in the second and three in the third. The Storm didn't get on the board in the third when Whitney Linder singled down the right field line to score one. Kaylee Allen then laced a double to left center to score two more. The Bronchos though got two more run in the fourth to take the 12-3 lead.
 
Maci-Brooke Lambert (4-7) took the loss after giving up seven runs on eight hits in two innings of work.
 
UCO scored seven runs in the first inning of the nightcap before the storm finally got on the board in the fourth. Kacey Acker hit her sixth home run of the season when she ripped a two-run shot to left center to cut it to 7-2. UCO got one back in the fifth to make it 8-2, before a Kaytie Spencer double to left put the Storm's final run across the plate.
 
Spencer went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the second game while Lindy Fluman went 2-for-3. Jeneva Nelson (3-3) took the loss after giving up eight runs on 11 hits in five innings.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set for the home opener as SNU hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State, Friday, for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
