Box Score 2 OKAHOMA CITY — Southern Nazarene ripped 15 hits in the first game of a doubleheader with Oklahoma Christian as SNU won 12-4, but had just five hits in the nightcap in a 9-1 loss to OC.
In the opener, the Crimson Storm (11-21) scored at least one run in the final five innings of play. SNU broke the scoreless tie with three in the top of the third as all three were unearned on two OC errors. The Lady Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the third with three, but SNU answered with two in the fourth as
Kaylee Allen and
Megan Blevens both scored on a Clemence single. SNU took a 6-3 lead in the fifth as
Kaytie Spencer drove home one with a single before
Kaylee Allen hit a two-run double.
The Storm added another run to go up 7-3 in the sixth on a Spencer sacrifice fly before putting it away with three in the seventh. Two of those runs came in on a Madden single.
Spencer led the way, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Madden went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Lindy Fluman and Allen both went 2-for-4 as Allen drove in two and scored one.
Maci-Brooke Lambert (6-10) picked up the win after giving up four runs on nine hits in the complete-game.
In the nightcap, the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. All five hits for SNU came from different players. The only run the Storm scored came off of a solo home run by Blevens to lead off the third inning.
Jeneva Nelson (4-8) took the loss after giving up five runs on four hits and a walk.
Southern Nazarene now gets set to host East Central for a four-game Great American Conference set Friday and Saturday.
