Southern Nazarene split again with Ouachita Baptist

Clemence went 4-for-7 with three RBIs and two runs scored on the day.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Southern Nazarene got off to a hot start Saturday with a 12-6 win over Ouachita Baptist, but cooled off quickly in a 6-4 loss to OBU.
 
The Crimson Storm (7-10, 2-6 GAC) have lost each of the first two series of the Great American Conference season.
 
In the opener, The Storm took the first lead of the game in the top of the second when Kaytie Spencer hit a leadoff home run to put SNU on top 1-0. The Lady Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the third with two, but the Storm responded in a big with a nine-run fourth to lead 10-2. The first three runs came in on a Jill Clemence double before Lindy Fluman doubles to score two more. Spencer drove in another run with a dingle, before Kacey Acker ripped a three-run home run to cap the inning off.
 
OBU scored one in the fourth, but SNU added two more in the top of the sixth to lead 12-3. Blevens drew a bases-loaded walk to score the first run of the inning before Whitney Linder ripped an RBI single. The Lady Tigers cut it to 12-6 in the bottom half of the inning with three runs, but SNU added two more in the top of the seventh on a passed ball to lead 14-6.
 
Spencer led the way, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Megan Blevens also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Clemence drove in three runs and scored one while going 2-for-3.
 
Becca Webb (1-2) picked up her first win of the season as she threw the final 3.1 innings in relief. She gave up just three runs on five hits and struck out four.
 
In the nightcap the Crimson Storm raced out of the gate to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. Amy Madden drove in the first run with a sac fly to short.Acker then doubled to make it 2-0 before Blevens singled to pu the Storm up 3-0. SNU then got a double steal as Blevens stole second and Acker took home.
 
OBU answered though with two in the bottom of the first and then cut it to 4-3 with one in the second. The Lady Tigers took the lead in the fifth with two and added an insurance run in the sixth to take the two-run lead.
 
Maci-Brooke Lambert (4-6) took the loss after giving up six runs on nine hits in six innings of work. Clemence and Kylie Lang each went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
 
Southern Nazarene now gets set for the home opener, Friday, against Northwestern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m.
