Tiger Split

SNU and OBU split in Arkadelphia

Nelson gave up just one run.
Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Jeneva Nelson gave up just one run on four hits in a complete game as Southern Nazarene won the second game of twin bill 5-1 over Ouachita Baptist. The Crimson Storm lost the first game 3-2.

Nelson (3-2) struck out two as well and walked just two as the Storm (7-9, 1-5 GAC) broke a six-game losing streak. Jill Clemence and Megan Blevens each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the second game of the doubleheader.

SNU took the first lead of the game on an OBU throwing error and then made it 2-0 on a Lindy Fluman single. The Storm went up 4-0 in the top of the fourth on a groundout and on another OBU error. The Lady Tigers answered with one in the bottom of the fourth, but SNU put the finishing touches on the game in fifth with a Blevens double to right field.

In the opener, SNU gave up a run in each of the first two innings before Amy Madden launched her sixth home run of the year to knot it at 2-2 in the top of the fourth. OBU though got the game-winning run in the bottom half of the inning to put it away.

The Storm were held to just five hits as Blevens was the only player to have multiple hits going 2-for-3. Maci-Brooke Lambert (4-5) took the loss after giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits in six innings pitched.

The two teams will finish the series with a Saturday doubleheader at noon.
