Box Score 2 BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Southern Nazarene gave up just one run on four hits in a 1-0 loss to No. 18 Emporia and then drummed Oklahoma Christian 13-2 in five innings in the first day of the UAM 7-State Classic.
Maci-Brooke Lambert (2-2) struck out four and gave up just four hits and didn't allow an earned run in six innings of work for the Crimson Storm (3-3). ESU's Karley Schmelzer though was just as good as she struck 11 and tossed a no-hitter in a complete-game shutout.
The only run the Hornets scored came in the second inning when Tricia Vogel scored a passed ball.
In the second game of the day, SNU pounded out 13 hits as nearly every player that played got a hit and four players had multiple hits.
Kacey Acker led the way going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Jill Clemence went 2-for-4 with a run scored while Lundy Fluman went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Amy Madden also went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Jeneva Nelson (1-1) gave up just one earned run on six hits and fanned four in the win.
The Storm didn't waste times putting runs on the board with five in the first, including Acker's first home run of the year, a three-run shot to right field. SNU added two more in the third with a
Kaylee Allen double and a
Megan Blevens ground out.
The Lady Eagles finally broke through in the top of the fourth with a run and added another in the fifth, but SNU unloaded again in the sixth.
Jessica Valdez drove home the first two runs of the inning with a double to right field before
Kaytie Spencer hit a walk-off grand slam to score the run rule.
The Crimson Storm will now play Central Missouri and Nebraska-Kearney, Saturday, at 12 and 2 p.m.
