Bisons Overtake Storm

Harding handed Southern Nazarene its second GAC loss of the season Saturday

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Harding forced Southern Nazarene into 24 turnovers, and outscored the Storm 38-20 in the paint, handing the Storm an 80-64 loss as SNU was without its leading rebounder, Aminata Fall.
 
The Bisons (4-0, 1-0 GAC) scored 23 points off of the Storm's giveaways and collected 15 offensive rebounds, earning 17 second chance points. SNU (2-5, 0-2 GAC) did outscore Harding 25-15 off the bench and blocked ten shots, while the Bisons only blocked one.
 
Harding led by five 45-40 with 12:23 left to play in the second half before going on a 28-13 run, jumping out to a 73-53 lead with only 2:40 left to play. The deficit was too much for Southern Nazarene to come back from as it was Harding's largest lead of the game. The Bisons rode their lead to the finish line and handed the Storm their fifth loss of the season.
 
Callee Cox shot 6-for-14 from the field, scoring 17 points and grabbing three rebounds. Kristin Milster pitched in 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting and added three assists. Ashleigh Hutchings scored six points, tying a season-high shooting 2-for-3 from the field. Hutchings also added five assists and a rebound. Ashley Almond scored seven points, tying a season-high and tallied four rebounds. Katelyn Gorman scored two points and had a career-high 15 rebounds. Gorman also added two assists, four steals, and blocked five shots.
 
Southern Nazarene shot 24-for-56 from the field for the game, shooting 42.9 percent. The Storm held the Bisons to only 40.8 percent shooting, but Harding hit seven 3-pointers going 7-for 20 from behind the arc. SNU hit seven triples as well, but the Storm were not as efficient as Harding only shooting 29.2 percent from the 3-point line going 7-for-24. Harding hit 15 free throws shooting 15-for-23 from the line while the Storm shot a productive 9-for-12 from the charity stripe.
 
SNU took its biggest lead of the game in the first half at 9-4 at the 17:32 mark. The Bisons though, went on a 15-3 run taking a 19-12 lead with 14:05 left in the half. Southern Nazarene fell behind by as many as 13, trailing 33-20 with 6:04 left in the first half. SNU went on an 11-4 run to close out the half and went into the locker room trailing 36-31. The Storm buried four of their seven threes in the first half shooting 36.4 percent from downtown. Harding forced SNU into 11 first half turnovers scoring nine points off of the Storm's errors.
 
The Storm do not take the court again until they travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State for a Great American Conference game, Dec. 5th, at 5:30 p.m.
