Southwestern Rains Treys on SNU

Southern Nazarene falls short after late second half run

Fall has had three 20-rebound games this season.
Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. — For the second time this season, Aminata Fall set the school-record for rebounds in a game as the sophomore pulled down 21 rebounds and also added a career-high 24 points in an 86-74 loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

The Crimson Storm (8-9, 5-6 GAC) held the Lady Bulldogs (12-4, 7-3 GAC) to just 36.5 percent shooting from the floor, but committed 20 turnovers and SWOSU took advantage with 27 points off of turnovers. The Southwestern Bench also outscored SNU's reserves 44-16.

Fall went 9-for-16 from the field and didn't miss from the free-throw line, going 6-for-6. She also had six blocks and three steals. Oumoul Thiam added 19 points as the senior went 6-for-16 from the field and 3-for-6 from 3-point range. Kristin Milster also added 10 points, six rebounds and four assists off of the bench.

The Storm led early in the first half at 9-8, but a 13-0 run by the Lady Bulldogs gave SWOSU a 21-9 lead and they were off and running. Southwestern pushed the lead to 36-18 and were up 44-26 late in the first half before taking a 46-33 lead at the break.

SWOSU extended its lead to 66-46, its biggest lead of the night, and were up 72-56 when a Samantha O'Shields 3-pointer ignited a 9-0 run by the Storm to cut it to 72-65 with 5:32 to play. That was as close as SNU came though as the Lady Bulldogs buried 10 treys on the night and kept the Storm just far enough away.

The Storm are off for the weekend and return to play Thursday night when they host Harding for a 5:30 p.m. GAC contest.
