BETHANY, Okla. —
The switch finally got flipped at the plate for No. 21 Southern Nazarene as the bats heated up and the tension went out the door in a 3-2, 10-1 (5 innings) doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Christian.

The Crimson Storm (26-12, 11-3 SAC) moved into first place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with the sweep over the Lady Eagles.

SNU had to get behind the pitching of Kaci Crawford in the opener before the bats woke up in a run-rule in the nightcap.

OC took the first lead of the game in the top of the second, but the Storm answered with three in the bottom half of the inning. Aubrey Jones scored the first on an OC error before Jill Clemence doubled down the left field line to score two and give SNU a 3-1 lead.

The Lady Eagles got within one with a run in the top of the fifth and nearly tied it with a swing in the top of the seventh, but Jones chased one down at the center field wall and pulled it back in the park for the second out of the inning. Crawford then induced a ground out to short to end the game.

Crawford moved to 9-6 with the win after she tossed the final five innings of the game. The senior gave up just one run on four hits and struck out four.

All five hits for the Storm came from different players as Clemence led he way going 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Allison Fields got the offense going in the nightcap for SNU when she ripped a one-out triple to right center to give SNU a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Lady Eagles answered in the top of the third with one, but SNU added four in the bottom of the third to take the 5-1 lead. Kylie Lang scored the first run of the inning on a bases-loaded walk before Katie Turner made it 3-1 on a wild pitch. Kacey Acker drove home the final two runs of the inning when a double down the right field line.

The Storm added five more in the fourth to lead 10-1. Jones drove home the first run when she ripped one off the pitcher's glove and beat the throw at first to score Clemence. Amy Madden then cleared the bases with a three-run blast to right to give the Storm the 9-1 lead. Acker then came around to score, after she doubled, on a single to left by Micah Laughlin to cap the inning.

That was more than enough runs for Jeneva Nelson (8-2) who threw all five innings and allowed just one run on six hits and struck out three. Lang, Madden and Acker were all a perfect 2-for-2. Lang scored a pair of runs while Madden drove in four and scored three. Acker notched a pair of RBIs and scored one as well.

The Crimson Storm will now get set to host Southwestern Christian, Monday, for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
