SHAWNEE, Okla. —
Southern Nazarene lit up Oklahoma Baptist with an 11-3 win in the first game of the doubleheader, but OBU answered back in the nightcap and salvaged a split with an 8-6 win.

The Crimson Storm (29-13, 12-4 SAC) ripped 13 hits in the opener and made a late charge in the sixth and seventh innings in the nightcap, but couldn't overcome the four-run deficit in the final three innings.

In the opener, the Crimson Storm broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly to right by Aubrey Jones to take a 1-0 lead. Amy Madden then belted a two-run home run to left-center to put the Storm up 3-0. SNU pushed it to 4-0 in the fourth with a bases-loaded single to right by Katie Turner that scored Allison Fields before a Kristina Forest fielder's choice scored Jill Clemence to give SNU a 5-0 lead.

Southern Nazarene tacked another run on in the fifth on a Lang single before putting the game away with five in the top of the seventh. Turner drove in the first run on the inning with a bases-loaded single before Jones was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Madden then put the finishing touches on the game with a three-run double to center to put the Storm up 11-1.

OBU tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two, but that was it for the Lady Bison. Kaci Crawford (11-6) went the distance as she allowed just two earned runs on eight hits. She also struck out seven.

Madden led the way for the Storm, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and one run scored. Clemence and Lang each went 3-for-5 as Clemence had a run scored while Lang had an RBI and two runs scored. Tuner also went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.

The Lady Bison matched SNU's first-game total of 13 hits and held off the Storm late after taking an 8-4 lead in the fourth.

The Storm scored the first two runs of the game with both being unearned due to three straight OBU errors to start the game. The Lady Bison though answered with one each in the first and second innings to tie it at 2-2, before taking a 5-2 lead in the third.

The Storm cut it to 5-4 in the top of the fourth on a two-run, two-out single to right by Clemence, but OBU answered right back with three in bottom half to take an 8-4 lead.

Southern Nazarene got two back in the top of the sixth on a two-run shot to center by Clemence to cut the lead to 8-6 and had the tying run at the plate in the seventh, but couldn't produce a run.

Maci-Brooke Lambert (10-5) took the loss after giving up five runs on six hits in two and two-thirds. Jeneva Nelson gave up two earned runs on five hits in an inning of work before Crawford was able to stop the bleeding in the fourth. The senior gave up just two hits in two and one-thirds innings of work.

The Crimson Storm will now host No. 6 Lubbock Christian, Saturday, for an 11 a.m. doubleheader.
