BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene will take the diamond with a little bit of a different purpose Saturday afternoon as SNU will sport a lot of pink to show their support in the fight against cancer.
The Crimson Storm are taking part in a national initiative called Strike Out Cancer as that organization partners with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in their fight against and being awareness to the battle with cancer.
SNU's theme for the 2012 game is “Battling Cancer One Pitch at a Time” and the Storm will have pink attire and are encouraging everyone attending the game to wear pink. Those wearing a pink shirt will get a free hot dog or hamburger and admission is free to anyone who wishes to attend. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be for sale along with water and other refreshments.
Since starting the Strike Out Cancer initiative over ten years ago, NFCA membership teams have raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the fight against cancer. Any funds raised will go directly to the American Cancer Society in their research.
First pitch for SNU and Rogers State is set for 12 p.m. at the Cypert Athletic Complex just west of the SNU campus off NW 39
th Expressway.
