Southern Nazarene split a doubleheader with Bethany (Kan.)

Clemence went 5-for-7 on the day with two doubles.

BETHANY, Okla. —
No. 18 Southern Nazarene traded a pair of a 5-1 wins with Bethany (Kan.), Saturday, in the first game in over a week.
 
The Crimson Storm (20-10) struggled to put the ball in play in the opener with just five hits, but doubled that total in the nightcap and got a one-run game behind Kaci Crawford.
 
Crawford moved to 7-5 on the season after she struck out 12 and walked just one in seven innings of work. She also scattered seven hits. Jill Clemence went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the second game while Kylie Lang went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
 
SNU took the upper hand in the nightcap first when Aubrey Jones singled to left to score Lang as SNU took a 1-0 lead. Bethany tied it in the top of the sixth with a solo home run to center.
 
The Crimson Storm took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Jones crossed on a Swede error. Lang pushed another run across the plate with a line drive to left before Clemence ripped a two-run double to left to put the Storm up 5-1.
 
Lang and Clemence accounted for four of SNU's five hits as Lang went 2-for-4 while Clemence went 2-for-3 with run scored in the opener.
 
Bethany struck first in the top of the first with a three-run shot to center field to lead 3-0. The Swedes added another in the fourth to lead 4-0.
 
The Storm finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Katie Turner drove home Jill Clemence to cut the lead to 4-1. Bethany added one more in the sixth to lead 5-1 and slammed the door on the SNU offense.
 
Bethany got behind Jennifer Garcia who gave up just one run on five hits and struck out 11 in the complete game. Jeneva Nelson (5-2) took the loss after going one and a third.
 
The Crimson Storm hit the road Tuesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Northwestern Oklahoma State.
