BETHANY, Okla. —
So much for a learning curve for Southern Nazarene's two freshmen who go 1-2 in the Crimson Storm's batting order. Kylie Lang and Jill Clemence may have played like two All-Americans Tuesday as the two went a combined 9-for-10 in a 13-8 win over Oklahoma Baptist and then helped fuel a big comeback in an 8-7 win in the nightcap.

The Crimson Storm (7-5, 3-1 SAC) drilled 22 hits and led from start to finish in the opening win.

Lang was 4-for-5 with two runs scored while Clemence was 5-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Katie Turner also drove in five runs, going 2-for-5 with a run scored. Despite giving up eight runs, five earned, on 15 hits Maci-Brooke Lambert (3-2) picked up the win after going the full seven innings as she won her third straight.

SNU fell behind early in the top of the second 5-2, but scored six runs on the second to lead 8-5. OBU cut it to 8-7 in the third, but the Storm added one in the third, two in the fourth and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings to put it away.

Clemence came up big again in the nightcap as she went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Her lone RBI came at the most opportune time as she drove home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

SNU trailed 7-1 through three and a half innings. OBU had just pelted the Storm for four runs in the top of the fourth, but Southern Nazarene fired right back in the bottom half of the inning. Lang drove in the first run of the inning with a single up the middle, before Madden pushed two across the plate with a single to the right side. Tuner capped the inning with a double to center as SNU cut its deficit to 7-5.

The Storm got within one at 7-6 in the sixth on a double to left center by Kristina Forest that scored Clemence and the momentum swing was going the way of the Storm. After SNU shutdown OBU for the third straight inning in the top of the seventh, Kacey Acker got things started when she was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Micah Laughlin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, then singled to left to put runners at first and second. After Allison Fields sacrificed Acker and Laughlin to third, Lang came through again with a single to right to score Acker and tie the game at 7-7. The came the second freshman hero as Clemence sealed the deal with her single up the middle to win the game.

Kaci Crawford (3-3) was the biggest reason for the final three innings of scoreless softball as the senior pitched the final 3.1 innings of relief and gave up just three hits and struck out six.

SNU will now get set to head to the Sunshine State and play in the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Panama City, Fla. All games Friday through Sunday will be broadcast live (audio only) on snuathletics.com.
