FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — Southern Nazarene's
Tere Webber hit another milestone Saturday as the head coach picked up her 200
th win of her career in an 8-3 win over Bellevue (Neb.).
The eighth-year head coach had just become the school's all-time wins leader last week and picked up No. 200 at the Saint Gregory's Framers Branch Invitational in the first of two games Saturday.
Maci-Brooke Lambert (2-2) earned her second straight win after she threw six and two-thirds innings of relief after starter
Kaci Crawford went just one-third of an inning. Lambert did not allow a run and gave up just three hits.
Amy Madden led the way going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Bellevue stormed out of the gate with three straight one-out hits, including back-to-back jacks as the Bruins took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. SNU answered with two-run shot by
Amy Madden to cut it to 3-2. Bellevue didn't push another run across the plate the rest of the way.
The Storm added four runs in the fourth, one off a solo home run by
Katie Turner, and two more in the fifth, including another home run by Madden to close out the game.
In the final game of the day, SNU gave up eight runs in the first three innings to Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) and were down 9-1 in the bottom of the fifth before SNU scored three in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh before falling 9-7.
Kristina Forest went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Madden went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and
Jill Clemence went 2-for-5 with a run scored.
SNU will now get back to Sooner Athletic Conference play, Tuesday, by hosting Oklahoma Baptist for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
