No. 15 Southern Nazarene knocked off by No. 25 Rogers State

The Crimson Storm are down to just one game left in the regular season.

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Despite shooting 20 more free throws than No. 25 Rogers State and hitting 78.1 percent from the line, No. 15 Southern Nazarene couldn't stop a hot hand from the Hillcats in a 71-63 loss.

The Crimson Storm (21-8, 15-6 SAC) couldn't hold off the Hillcats (19-10, 13-8 SAC) who shot 46.3 percent from the field as they led from start to finish. SNU struggled from the field shooting just 34 percent going 17-for-50 from the floor.

Logan Martin finished with a game-high 17 points and added six rebounds as she was 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 6-for-8 at the free-throw line. Abbey Marra added 12 points and nine rebounds while Sharmeda Johnson had 11 points and four boards.

Rogers State had 10 players on the board with three in double figures. The Hillcats jumped out to an 8-2 lead before SNU closed it to 12-11. Rogers though scored 10 straight to lead 22-11, but the Hillcats never got outside of striking distance for the Storm.

Oumoul Thiam capped a 9-2 run to cut it to 24-20 with 6:38 left in the half, and SNU stayed within four at 27-23 on a trey by Samantha O'Shields with 4:42 remaining. RSU though went on an 8-2 run to lead 25-25 with 1:07 on the clock and took a 35-27 lead into the half.

Rogers State opened the second half with an 11-5 run to take its biggest lead of the game at 46-32 with 16:21 left. Martin then sparked an 11-3 run with a 3-pointer as SNU got within six at 49-43 with 12:25 left. The Storm cut it six two more times before Rogers took a 55-47 lead midway through the second half.

Annie Kassongo hit a jumper to cut it to six before Ashley Mantooth buried two free throws as SNU got within four at 55-51 with 8:57 remaining.

The was as close as SNU came though as the Hillcats never gave up the lead the rest of the way.

The Crimson Storm will now get set for the final game of the regular season by hosting John Brown on senior night. Tip is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. with senior festivities set to go between the men's and women's games.
