Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Oumoul Thiam scored a career-high 34 points in the season opener for Southern Nazarene in an 83-59 win over Southwestern Christian.
The Crimson Storm (1-0) start the
Derek Dorris era on the right side as the first-year head coach garners his first win at the collegiate level.
Thiam was nearly perfect on the day as the senior went 11-for-15 from the floor and 5-for-7 from 3-point range. She also went 7-for-8 at the free throw line and pulled in six rebounds.
Annie Kassongo chipped in with 18 points and four rebounds as she went 7-for-11 from the floor.

Miranda Taylor had 10 points and three boards.
The Crimson Storm shot 45.5 percent (30-66) from the field and buried eight 3-pointers on the night. SNU shot 78.9 percent from the charity stripe going 15-for-19. SNU held SCU to just 22.1 percent shooting from the field.
Thiam sparked a 21-0 run when she hit a trey to put the Storm up 29-10 with 4:55 left in the first half. SNU shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first half to take a 39-21 lead at the break. SNU didn't give up the lead the rest of the way in cruising to the season-opening win.
The Crimson Storm now get set to host Oklahoma Christian, Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m.
