Southern Nazarene opened the GAC season with an 81-61 loss at Arkansas Tech

Southern Nazarene now head to GAC favorite Harding.
Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Southern Nazarene shot just 32 percent from the field and turned it over 21 times in an 81-61 loss at Arkansas Tech in the Great American Conference opener.

The Crimson Storm (3-3, 0-1 GAC) got 29 points out of Oumoul Thiam who buried five 3-pointers and went 5-for-8 from 3-point range and 8-for-17 from the field. The rest of the team went 8-for-33 and only one other played scored in double figures. Aminata Fall had 11 points and nine and Annie Kassongo had eight points and nine rebounds, but no other Storm player had more than four points.

The Sun Flowers dominated in the paint out scoring SNU 40-16 and had 23 points off the bench compared to just nine from SNU.

The Crimson Storm led 10-7 early, but the lead didn't last for long. ATU scored seven straight to lead 18-10, but never reached a double-digit lead and led just 45-38 at the break. Arkansas Tech though outscored the Storm 36-23 in the second half to pull off the win.

SNU stays on the road and will take on the GAC preseason favorite, Harding, Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.
