Southern Nazarene wins its first game away from the Sawyer Center

Taylor scored the most by a freshman since the 2008-09 season.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — It may have taken a few games, but depth started to show for Southern Nazarene as Miranda Taylor scored a season-high 16 points in a 71-41 thumping of Eastern New Mexico.
The freshman was perfect from beyond the arc, going 4-for-4 from 3-point range and was 6-for-7 from the field. The Crimson Storm (3-1) drained 11 treys, going 11-for-18 from downtown. SNU got 29 points off the bench, including Taylor's 16.
Oumoul Thiam added 13 points to go with four rebounds and three assists. She went 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Katie Beebe also added 12 points. Annie Kassongo had eight points and a team-high five rebounds. Aminata Fall scored nine points and pulled down four boards.
SNU outrebounded the Zias, 39-32, and scored 28 points off of 18 ENMU turnovers. SNU shot 49.1 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from 3-point range.
The Storm got a big boost early when Thiam hit a three to spark a 13-2 run to put SNU on top 21-9 with 8:00 left in the first half and SNU was off and running. Southern Nazarene closed out the first half with a 14-0 run as it held a 35-11 lead at the break. 
SNU didn't let off the gas in the second half as it cruised to its first victory away from Bethany this season. Southern Nazarene will now host Central Oklahoma, Tuesday, at 5:30 before the Thanksgiving break.
