Southern Nazarene won in every aspect of the game in a 63-point win

Southern Nazarene allowed just 65 yards and totaled over 500 yards for the second straight game as SNU routed Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) 63-0.

The Crimson Storm (2-0) held the Indians (0-3) to -57 rushing yards and 122 passing yards. SNU scored 56 of its points in the first half and 35 of those came in the second quarter.

SNU recorded seven sacks for a loss of 52 yards and 17 of the 65 tackles were for a loss of 96 yards. The Storm also forced two fumbles, recovered one for a touchdown, picked off two passes and broke up 10 passes. Michael Hicks led the way with eight tackles, three of which were for a loss of 19 yards, forced a fumble and he also posted a pair of sacks.

On the offensive side, SNU was almost perfectly balanced with 231 yards on 40 carries and 277 yards through the air.

Brady Wardlaw was 15-for-19 for 229 yards and four touchdowns. Trey Cloud was 6-for-13 for 48 yards. Derick Perkins rushed for 75 yards and pair of touchdowns on seven carries. Twelve different players recorded a reception as Jarod Martin led the way with 51 yards on three catches and a touchdown. Timmie Fuller had two catches for 56 yards and a touchdown while Damian Johnson and Jonathon Boone both had a touchdown reception as well.

Southern Nazarene needed just four plays to score on the opening drive as Wardlaw hit Martin for a 28-yard touchdown strike to put SNU up 7-0 just under two minutes into the game. Wardlaw then hit Timmie Fuller for a 12-yard pass to give SNU a 14-0 lead. Derick Perkins made it 21-0 with a 26-yard to cap the first quarter.

Jonathon Boone gave the Storm a 28-0 lead when he scored on a 16-yard pass from Wardlaw just before Dewayne Ikner Jr. picked off a pass and took it down to the 1-yard line. Damian Johnson scored on the next play as SNU led 35-0. Dalton Davis scored his first touchdown of his career when he picked up a Haskell fumble and took it back 16 yards for the score. Johnson and Perkins then scored on consecutive touchdown runs with Johnson going for 39 yards and Perkins going for 29 yards to give the Storm a 56-0 lead at halftime.

The final touchdown of the game came on a 3-yard run by Cody Feuerborn who capped a 13-play, 86-yard drive.

Southern Nazarene will now get set to end the three-game home stretch by hosting Friends (Kan.), Sept. 17, for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
