SHAWNEE, Okla. — The pairings for the 2011 Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Tournament have been set and Southern Nazarene will take on Oklahoma Christian in the first round.
The Crimson Storm finished fifth in the conference at 16-10 and come into Friday's match up at 42-14 overall. The 11 a.m. game is just first of three times set to go Friday at the ASA Softball Hall of Fame as SNU will also play at 3 p.m. whether they win or lose.
The Lady Eagles finished fourth in the SAC at 18-8 and bring a 32-16 record into the postseason. These two teams played each other back on March 31 and split a doubleheader. OC scored late in the first game to outlast the Storm 4-3, but SNU broke out the bats in the second game to score a 13-3 victory.
The winner of the SNU/OC will play the winner of the Lubbock Christian/St. Gregory's game and vice versa for the loser. LCU and Oklahoma City tied for the regular season title, but the Lady Chaps picked up the No. 1 seed by way of a tiebreaker. SGU is the No. 8 seed. On the other side of the bracket, OCU plays seventh-seeded Rogers State and third-seeded Oklahoma Baptist plays sixth-seeded Science & Arts.
All teams will play at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. regardless of a win or a loss in the first round. Those six teams left after the 3 p.m. games will all play at 7:30 p.m. that night. Saturday's game times are staggered at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
SNU will offer live stats and audio for all of the Storm's games.
