CLAREMORE, Okla. —
Southern Nazarene could have easily laid down in the second game of a doubleheader after Rogers State hit three home runs in a 9-4 loss to the Hillcats, but SNU responded to score a split with a 5-4 win the nightcap.

The Crimson Storm (30-7, 8-4 SAC) had trouble retiring the RSU lineup in the opener, but got behind Kaci Crawford, who picked up her 12th straight win in the nightcap to move to 15-3 on the year.

The Hillcats quickly got out to a 4-0 lead in the opener thanks to one-out single and three-run home run. Amy Madden's singled to center drove in the first run of the game for the Storm before Kacey Acker doubled to center to cut the lead to 6-2.

RSU though answered in the bottom of the fourth with another run to take a 7-2 lead and went up 9-2 in the fifth on another two-run bomb.

Southern Nazarene got two runs back on a two-run home run by Acker in the top of the sixth, but that was it for the Crimson Storm.

Jordan Simmons (13-3) took the loss for the Storm as she allowed seven runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings of work. RSU's Amanda Edwards moved to 14-7 with the win after she allowed four runs on nine hits in the complete seven-inning game.

Madden, Keli Billups and Acker all went 2-for-3. Acker posted two RBIs with a run scored while Madden drove in a run and Billups scored one.

Southern Nazarene took its first lead of the day in top of third of the nightcap when Daphne Stewart drove home Katie Turner before Katie Hale doubled home Stewart to put SNU out in front at 2-0. Madden then singled to center field to drive home Aubrey Jones and Hale as the Storm took a 4-0 lead.

The Hillcats cut it to 4-2 in the bottom half of the inning, but the Storm pushed the lead back out to 5-2 in the sixth. Rogers State cut it to 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out home, but Crawford retired the last two batters to pick up the win. Crawford went the complete game as she allowed just two earned runs on three hits and struck out 11.

The 2-4 hitters for the Crimson Storm went a combined 6-for-12 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Aubrey Jones, Hale and Madden all went 2-for-4. Jones and Hale each scored a run while Hale had an RBI and Madden drove in a pair of runs as well.
