CEDAR HILL, Texas — Southern Nazarene ended their four-game trip south of the Red River with a pair of doubleheader run-rules by beating Briar Cliff (Iowa) 9-0 and 12-0 Saturday. SNU allowed just one hit all day with a no-hitter in the second game.
In the opener,
Daphne Stewart went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored including two home runs and an RBI single.
Amy Madden also went 3-for-3 as she also drove in a run and scored a run.
Kacey Acker also hit one deep with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth as SNU scored seven runs in the bottom to tack on to Stewart's two runs.
Jordan Simmons (4-1) picked up the win after allowing just one hit and struck out three. She also walked just one batter in five innings of work.
Kaci Crawford (4-3) was just as dominant in the nightcap as she tossed the first no-hitter of the season. The junior struck out 10 of the 16 batters she faced as the only blemish was a hit batter.
Stewart was hot again at the plate going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.
Keli Billups was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
Aubrey Jones hit her first home run of the season with a two-run shot to center as she drove home the final two runs of an 8-run third inning.
The rout continued from there as SNU scored 21 runs in two games.
The Crimson Storm stay on the road and will get back to Sooner Athletic Conference play Tuesday when they travel to Oklahoma Baptist for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
