SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — If No. 11 Southern Nazarene 2011-12 debut was any type of view of what's next, then there will be a few fans wanting an encore after SNU drubbed No. 22 Evangel (Mo.), 81-47.
The Crimson Storm (1-0) had four players in double figures and 11 different players scored at least had a field goal.
Logan Martin led the way with 16 points and five assists as the senior went 6-for-13 from the field and 3-for-3 at the free-throw line.
Oumoul Thiam and
Abbey Marra each added 14 points. Thiam dished out five assists and went 6-for-8 from the field while Marra had eight rebounds and hit 5-for-7 from the floor.
Sharmeda Johnson also had 10 points and four rebounds off the bench.
SNU shot 59.3 percent (32-54) from the field and 38.9 percent (7-18) from 3-point range. The Storm also won the battle of the board (30-24) and forced 19 turnovers. Evangel shot just 36.4 percent from the field and hit just 1-for-13 from downtown.
Southern Nazarene will now get set to host Southwestern Christian for a 6 p.m. Homecoming game.
