SNU welcomes back alumni with runaway win

BETHANY, Okla. —
Oumoul Thiam was just one-point off her career-high with 23 points in a 100-49 win over Southwestern Christian, Friday night.
 
The 11th-ranked Crimson Storm (2-0) unloaded in the second half, outscoring SCU (1-3) 51-19.
 
Thiam was 9-for-13 from the floor and was 3-for-4 from 3-point range. She also added seven assists and two steals. She was one four Storm in double figures. Abbey Marra added 14 points and six rebounds as she was 6-for-8 from the floor. Sharmeda Johnson didn't miss a shot from the floor going 4-for-4 with 12 points off the bench. Katie Beebe was also 3-for-4 from downtown and 4-for-5 from the field, scoring 11 points.
 
Of the 13 players that played 12 scored at least two points.
 
SNU shot 50 percent (39-78) from the field and were 10-for-18 from 3-point range. The Storm outscored the Eagles in the paint 44-20 and scored 35 points off of 21 SCU turnovers. The Storm bench also outscored the Eagles' reserves 38-15.
 
SNU led from start to finish, but it took some time early to being to put SCU away. SNU took its first double-digit lead with 13:17 left in the first at 20-9, but the Eagles charged back with an 8-0 run to cut it to 20-17. SNU went on a 22-5 run capped by a Beebe trey to make it 44-22 with 3:20 left in the half and the rout was on.
 
SNU took a 49-30 lead at the half and then pulled away quickly in the second half.
 
The Storm now get set to host MidAmerica Nazarene, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m.
