SHWAWNEE, Okla. — No one can really explain it, but playing at St. Gregory's has really never been a walk in the park for Lori Carter and Southern Nazarene.
That is except for Saturday night.
The Crimson Storm rolled the Lady Cavaliers, 74-34, in SNU's first Sooner Athletic Conference road game of the year to move to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Storm held an opponent under 30 percent shooting from the field for the fourth time this year as SGU shot just 21.7 percent from the field and 13.3 percent from 3-point range.
Ashley Mantooth and Kristin Millster each scored season-highs as Mantooth scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds while Millster scored 13 and added four boards as well. Mantooth went 6-for-8 from the field and hit a pair of free throws as well. Millster was 5-for-7 and 3-for-4 from outside.
The Storm shot 45.9 percent (28-61) from the field and were 50 percent (9-18) from beyond the arc. SNU forced 23 turnovers and out rebounded the Lady Cavaliers. 52-41.
The Crimson Storm have a quick turnaround next week as they get set to travel Science and Arts of Oklahoma for a 6 p.m. game Monday.
