The Crimson Storm end their SAC Tournament run in the quarterfinals

Box Score

BETHANY — If any team was poised for a run through the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, the expectations were that Southern Nazarene would be that team. That mindset came to a sudden halt in the 94th minute as Juan Iraola drilled home a golden goal for John Brown to end SNU's season with a 1-0 loss in overtime.

The Crimson Storm (6-9-1) had made a complete 180 turnaround in the latter part of the season with four wins in five matches and a tie and crept into fourth place in the SAC on the last day of the regular season. The Storm also had plenty of confidence rolling in against a Golden Eagle (11-7-1) team that they beat in Siloam Springs, Ark., earlier in the year.

Neither team found the back of the net in 90 minutes of regulation. Both keepers had been challenged evenly as JBU put four of its 16 shots on goal while SNU put the same amount on goal and took just one extra shot.

Kenton Farris made three saves on the night while Pablo Garcia had four for the Golden Eagles. The only blemish on the night for the Storm was when Ramon Martinez put up a cross from 24 yards out and Iraola headed in the goal and advanced JBU to the semifinals of the SAC Tournament against Oklahoma Baptist.

It was the final game for a senior class that had amassed a 47-21-5 record over four year and had reached the national tournament twice.
